FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What conditions does Dr. Siow treat?

Dr. Siow manages a wide range of gynaecological conditions involving the uterus, abdomen and pelvis.

He specialises in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery for both common and complex cases, including advanced endometriosis, ovarian cysts, fibroids, endometrial polyps, PCOS, menstrual disorders, and menopause-related issues.

When should I see a gynaecologist?

You should consider seeing a gynaecologist if you experience:

  • Chronic pelvic pain
  • Heavy, prolonged, or irregular periods
  • Painful periods
  • Pain during intercourse
  • Difficulty conceiving or infertility
  • Menopausal symptoms (hot flashes, night sweats, or mood changes)

Regular check-ups are also recommended annually even if you do not have symptoms, as preventive care can detect early-stage gynaecological conditions while maintaining your reproductive and overall health.

What can I expect at my first appointment?

During your first visit, Dr. Siow will review your medical history, discuss your symptoms and concerns, and perform a thorough examination. Further imaging or tests may be recommended, in which Dr. Siow will explain possible diagnoses and outline personalised treatment options catered to your needs.

Our clinic is fully equipped with a team of highly dedicated and experienced staff working with Dr. Siow for more than 20 years, ensuring that your medical journey will be a smooth experience.

What can I expect for my post-treatment care?

Dr. Siow ensures your well-being is his top priority, supporting you through every stage of recovery.

For surgical procedures, Dr. Siow will personally check on you daily while you're in the hospital. Your first follow-up, about a week after discharge, allows him to review your progress and surgical results. Two weeks later, he will ensure you're recovering well and ready to resume your normal routine. At around two months, he will assess your overall recovery and quality of life. Beyond that, regular check-ups every 6-12 months help maintain your health and provide ongoing reassurance.

Can I use insurance or Medisave for my treatment?

Yes. Many surgical procedures are eligible for insurance claims and MediSave use.

Dr. Siow is an accredited specialist on the NTUC insurance panel. Our clinic staff will assist with the neccessary pre-authorisations and claims processing to ensure a seamless experience.

What are the benefits of minimally-invasive surgery?

Minimally invasive surgery, including laparoscopic and single-incision techniques, offers advantages over traditional open surgery:

  • Faster recovery
  • Smaller, nearly invisible scars
  • Reduced post-operative pain
  • Shorter hospital stays

As the first gynaecologist in Singapore to perform single-incision laparoscopic surgery for womb and fibroid removal, Dr. Siow is a trusted pioneer in the procedure. His advanced expertise ensures precise, safe, and effective treatment for complex gynaecological conditions.

Is keyhole/laparoscopic surgery safe?

Yes. Keyhole/Laparoscopic surgery is a well-established, safe technique for treating many gynaecological conditions.

More than 98% of Dr. Siow's surgical procedures are done via keyhole surgery with results of faster recovery and shorter downtime, so you can be rest assured in the hands of a highly skilled surgeon dedicated to delivering precise, effective, and compassionate care.
